The Parlor Seattle was opened in June 2018, our mission was to put our focus on client care while delivering hand crafted thoughtfully customized work. Our salon is very different from every salon in Seattle. We are more like the speakeasy of salons, we stay away from the assembly line hair salon culture and have curated an environment of comfort with luxury complementary add-on services. We recently became aware of how harmful traditional color lines are to the environment, our clients, and ourselves as stylists. We’ve been working in a broken beauty industry and we do not want to be apart of the problem, we want to be apart of the solution. We are the only Seattle based salon that is providing Luxury Low Toxic Chemical Services. Our color & lighteners are free of PPD, Resorcinol, and Ammonia. The color line we use, Original & Mineral COR was invented in Australia, and is formulated and packaged in Italy. This line is cruelty free, unlike most of the traditional color lines salons use. It has replaced toxic ingredients that are hazardous to the oceans and earth with ones that are kinder to the environment and are easier on our bodies. The majority of stylists don’t know how unsafe their color lines ingredients are. They have serious effects on our health, things like irreversible respiratory damage, miscarriage, endocrine disruption, dermitits, depression, and anxiety. Breast, bladder and brain cancer are common among us. We really don’t want our stylists to be chronically exposed any longer to these chemicals, and we don’t want you as clients to suffer from acute toxicity. Now that we know what these chemicals can do, we can no longer turn our heads away. They are NOT necessary for luxurious long lasting color. Our clients are very happy with their results & improved hair condition, and they don’t leave with a migraine, or funky chemical smells on their bodies. We want to support small sustainable eco friendly and cruelty free companies, not conglomerates. Cutting down on the throw away culture is important to us so we only carry non toxic, small batch, high quality, sustainable, synthetic free & refillable hair care. We love people and we take their sensitivities to chemicals and synthetics seriously. We know this is more than just hair. Each human that enters in our salon will be cared for, will be listened to, and will not be rushed out of their appointment. We do not cut any corners, we hold ourselves to a higher standard in this industry. We take chemical safety seriously because we do not want to harm our clients. We endeavor to cut the green washing out in this industry by not carrying lines that are perpetuating misleading vocab like “organic” or “naturally derived” because organic does not mean safe. Our products are carefully curated and we won’t compromise even when it’s hard. Our prices reflect the value we add to our community. We have a simplified service menu so it’s easy for you to book a hair service. All hair services are customized and start at a base rate, in the description of your service we go into detail on how your investment is priced. We are here to serve you, and work with you on your hair goals in a more holistic, safe and respectful way. We hope this little salon has so many benefits to you, your family, friends and community.
